Hod Mofokeng advocates for road safety during Kalahari Rally

North West Community Safety and Transport Management Head of Department, Ms Botlhale Mofokeng has called on Dakar Kalahari Rally participants to adhere to road safety measures during the week long sporting activity.

Speaking on behalf of the Departmental MEC, Dr Mpho Motlhabane during the recent race briefing at the Mahikeng Rugby Stadium, Mofokeng said the called on participants to enjoy the race and safe guard unnecessary injuries and pains.

“This race is not only about being the fastest or winning, but along you must enjoy the stages that vary from sand, riverbeds, mountains, hard park to very technical navigation.
Most importantly, practice all safety measures for you to complete your 2700 km race and return safely,” said Mofokeng who expressed her gratitude to the organisers of the rally to partner with the Department.

Head of Department said the Kalahari Rally came at the time when the Department commemorates the annual October Transport Month (OTM), which leads to the activation of the Festive Operations.

“The Dakar Kalahari Rally came at the time we commemorate the Transport Month where we encourage for non motorized and public transport and most importantly advocating for road safety.

We are pleased at how the organisors are adhering to road safety measures during the competition,” concluded Mofokeng.
